Workplace Giving Ramps Up
While the motivation for workplace philanthropy programs is to help the charities, there is also the added benefit to the attraction and retention of employees from a recruitment standpoint. "There are social goals for these programs, but there are also business impacts," said Bryan de Lottinville, Founder and CEO of Benevity. "Companies that get it are recognizing that employee engagement is a Holy Grail for human capital management and the connection between engaged employees and out-performing the competition is clear."
Technology exists today, including a platform offered by Benevity, which makes it easy for employees to give and to target their donations to the cause of their choice. "The power of these programs is that it takes you beyond conventional HR compensation models," he says. "There's only so much you can do with carrots and sticks. What you can do with inspiration knows no bounds."
